About

X AssistAI is an independent AI lab in Paris. In practice, that means one founder, a network of practitioners in the professions I build for, and a record that grows in public.

I’m Kindi Balde. I work as an AI engineer at the research level: I read the papers, test what they claim, and turn what holds up into products people use. Before this I spent years as a consultant deployed inside companies. That experience is where the whole idea comes from. Companies don’t really want tools. They want roles filled, by someone with a name, a scope, and a boss.

The thesis. You supervise, AI executes. The next decade of software is humans supervising agents, and the interfaces, protocols, and trust models all have to be rebuilt around that premise. The scarce resource is human attention, so the metric that matters is interventions per completed task.

The method. One profession at a time. I once tried to build a single harness for every profession. It failed, and the failure was the most useful thing I’ve learned: an accountant’s work is not a site reliability engineer’s work, and no general agent serves both well. So every assistant here is built for one practice, with real practitioners, and earns its autonomy on a record you can inspect.

The product of the method is the Forward Deployed Assistant: a professional made of software, with a name, an email address, a phone line, and a sponsor who supervises it. You don’t adopt it. You hire it. KynDI deploys these assistants into companies, one per department. iKount applies the same pattern to bookkeeping in France, with a real accountant signing off on the books. DCut applies it to film, a craft I trained in myself.

How research becomes product. The research notes are not decoration. The Gödel Agent note is the reason KynDI assistants propose changes to their own playbook and wait for approval instead of rewriting themselves. The AI Scientist note shaped how iKount attaches a review report to every deliverable.

Where this is going. I’m looking for pilot clients who want to hire their first assistant, and I’m open to conversations about funding and early hires. But the plan doesn’t wait for either. I ship, in public, one product at a time.
